WT ImpactMatch

Nonprofits rarely get expert brand and employer brand work — the budget goes to the mission, as it should. Companies want their giving to mean more than a day of painting fences. WT connects the two: real strategic work for a nonprofit that needs it, resourced through a company that wants its impact to count. Everyone’s contribution goes further.

Built at the highest level of brand.
Before employer brand, we came up through corporate brand design and consulting — Siegel+Gale, the Brand Union, contract work for Landor and Interbrand, and B2C design firms. Then two decades building employer brands for some of the largest companies in the country. The nonprofits we work with get that same standard, not a volunteer version of it.
The double bind of doing good.
Nonprofits need real creative strategy and communication tools as much as any company does. But every dollar raised is meant for the mission, not the marketing — as it should be. So the work that would help them raise more, reach more, and last longer is the first thing they can’t justify spending on. An ESG-funded partnership through WT breaks that bind: the strategic work gets done, and not a dollar comes out of the mission.
What you say has to work in order to work.
A cause’s promise gets tested the moment someone shows up — a volunteer, a donor, the person you’re there to help. If the message doesn’t match what they actually find, it doesn’t matter how good the creative is. So the work starts with what’s real, and builds the brand on that.
Strategic Services
The good part is getting to do good work.
Real strategic work, done for people doing hard, necessary things. After twenty years of brand work, this is the version we’re proudest of.
Frequently asked questions
How do you help nonprofits when we have no budget?
Smaller than you’d expect. Promise Check is a matter of weeks and gives you something usable whether or not you ever hire us for anything else.
How do you help a corporation with giving it hasn’t already committed?
We give companies a way to back missions they believe in that goes beyond writing a check. They get to watch a nonprofit actually grow, powered by state-of-the-art creative the nonprofit could never afford on its own. And their people get to volunteer with their skills, not a paint roller, which a lot more of them will actually show up for.
How do you pair a nonprofit with a corporation and WT?
We do the matching. We find nonprofits that need this kind of work, and companies whose giving and values fit, and we bring the three sides together. You don’t have to go find each other. That’s our job.
Who’s responsible for what?
Working Theory does the strategic and creative work. The corporate partner funds it through their giving program and, if they choose, contributes employee volunteer hours to the project. The nonprofit brings the mission and the access we need to get the work right. Everyone does the part they’re built for.
This sounds too good to be true.
It is. And we think it’s a model that can work at scale, eventually around the world. For now, it’s a way to get serious brand work to causes that need it, funded by companies that want their giving to count, done by people who’ve spent careers doing this at the highest level. Good all the way around.
How do we get started?
One conversation. Tell us who you are, a nonprofit that needs the work or a company that wants its giving to matter more, and we’ll walk you through how it fits.
